Meet Dr. Kim Blakely

Dr. Kim Blakely is a board-certified dermatologist and the founder of Elevate Dermatology in Pickering. With dual training as both an MD and PhD, she brings a unique blend of medical expertise, research insight, and clinical experience to every patient interaction. Her practice spans both medical and cosmetic dermatology, with a focus on evidence-based treatments, innovative technologies, and personalized care that puts patients first.

Education and Training

Dr. Blakely's academic journey reflects her deep commitment to both science and medicine. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University, graduating summa cum laude. She then went on to earn her PhD in Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Toronto, where her doctoral research explored novel drivers of malignancy and strengthened her passion for advancing patient care. Following medical school, Dr. Blakely pursued a dermatology residency at the University of Toronto, where she served as Co-Chief Resident. During her training, she also took on leadership roles in medical education, acting as the Medical Student Body President and contributing to curriculum reform. In 2021, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Dermatology.

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Blakely founded Elevate Dermatology to provide comprehensive, dermatologist-led skin care for the community. Her clinical expertise spans both medical dermatology—including the diagnosis and management of chronic and complex conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, and skin cancer—and cosmetic dermatology, where she offers treatments like lasers, wrinkle relaxers, and dermal fillers.

At Elevate, every treatment is personally planned by Dr. Blakely. Patients benefit from her consistent oversight, whether they are visiting for a medical consultation or seeking advanced cosmetic rejuvenation. Research & Academic Contributions

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Blakely has contributed extensively to dermatology research. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at both national and international conferences. Her academic interests include inflammatory skin diseases, innovations in dermatologic therapies, and improvements in medical education.

Dr. Blakely is also a Lecturer in the Division of Dermatology at the University of Toronto, where she teaches and mentors dermatology residents and medical students. She is passionate about training the next generation of dermatologists and sharing her expertise with colleagues across Canada.

Leadership & Professional Involvement

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Blakely is active in dermatology leadership and advocacy. She serves on the executive committee of the Dermatology Section of the Ontario Medical Association, representing early-career dermatologists and contributing to policy discussions that shape the future of dermatology care in Ontario. She is also the Co-Chair and Creator of the DermInsight Symposium, a Toronto-based conference designed to strengthen collaboration between dermatologists and primary care physicians. The symposium reflects her dedication to improving referral pathways, sharing the latest treatment innovations, and ultimately enhancing patient outcomes. Dr. Blakely is a member of leading professional organizations, including the Canadian Dermatology Association, Dermatology Association of Ontario, American Academy of Dermatology, and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
